His ability lets him pull anything from out of his coat like a magician, so either it's a former profession, or a gimmick he uses to manipulate how his opponents view and underestimate him. I'm leaning towards the latter, myself.
Don't get any ideas. He's dangerous -- he's an expert at playing the fool in a way similar to Dazai, so I don't doubt he'd have a work around if he ever found himself without clothing. It's possible he may not need them at all.
And don't think I'm saying this because I'm underestimating you. If he ever decided to target the people here, a lot of people would die before he's stopped.
