[Watson sits up properly, hopping into Atsushi's lap. "Berry! And apple! And-- caterpillar!"]

...you know, I don't think we can find that last one in a store.

But aside from the fact that I can't seem to stop him from eating bugs, he doesn't really like meat? I'm still figuring it out, but it's not quite a fox's diet.

[He'll pick some off the ground if he has to.]

["Caterpillars!! Caterpillars--" He's so excited?? about this?? that he's just gonna start nyooming around the couch over their laps.]

[After about the third lap, Ranpo manages to grab him, holding him loosely so he can still squirm around.]

Okay, but if you see him hunting for them-- he can't eat the really fuzzy ones or the neon colored ones. He'll do it anyway, but they make him sick.

[Seeing Watson zipping around makes Atsushi laugh, the first time he's done so since Dazai disappeared. What a good and precious son.]

Not too fuzzy, no big warning sign colors. Understood. And what do I need to know for the care and feeding of my Ranpo?

[Oh, the big stupid grin that spreads over his face at "my Ranpo".]

I'll send you a snack list later. But other than that--

[He lifts Watson up Circle of Life-style before turning and plopping his head down in Atsushi's lap.]

All you need to do is pet me and give me a warm bed to sleep in, and I'll be golden!

Atsushi smiles brightly and gives Ranpo some scritches behind the ears.]

I think I can do that. The hardest part will be keeping you and Tiger from eating each other's snacks.

[Ear scritches!! Which means it's time for more purring, as Watson fights to nyoom over to his neck again while Ranpo holds him in place.]

Oh, I think I can avoid his -- unless it's cordis. Then all bets are off.

You might have to cuddle him extra to make up for it. However will you survive.

Oh, I think I can handle it. He's a big softy at heart-- he was even cooing over Watson!

Hmm... hey, Tiger? It's okay to show Atsushi, right?

[If he doesn't take over to say no, Ranpo's gonna pull out his phone to pull up the video in question. The visual gets jumbled once they're sitting down and while playing hide and seek, but the audio captures up until Tiger's little "I love you" to Ranpo.]

[Tiger doesn't take over, and Atsushi watches in rapt attention as Tiger is cute as fuck.]

Isn't he cute? I had no idea tiny fluffy things were his weakness! Or maybe it's just babies in general.

[Is it time for them to be sappy? Because he's gonna be sappy, reaching up to caress Atsushi's cheek with the tips of his fingers.]

[Watson suddenly YELLS and squirms out of Ranpo's hand to instead jump onto his face.]

Watty, Papa and Papa are having a moment.

["Moment would be better with caterpillar."]

[He gets this from Ranpo.]

[Welp, sappy moment's gone. But it makes Atsushi chuckle, so it's not a total loss.]

I don't have any caterpillars in my fridge to give you.

[HE WHINES and then hops off of Ranpo's face and off the couch, spreading his wings to float down to the ground.]

[And now he's just gonna wander around on tiny feet, snoot towards the ground and sniffing for bugs.]

...I have a feeling he won't find anything, huh.

[His apartment is probably cleaner than Ranpo's right now.]

I'd certainly like to hope there aren't bugs on my floor.

[He cleans up frequently??]

[He does! Which means of the bugs he can find, he'll only find the sort that don't need filth to propagate. Which means in about a minute or so or crawling around under some furniture, he flutters back over and lands on Ranpo's chest--]

[And drops a spider on him.]

[...]

[Please save him Atsushi, he can't yeet the spider without yeeting the baby, too???]

[Atsushi is a brave soul who is going to pick up this spider with his bare hands.]

Watson, don't drop bugs on people. Especially spiders.

[Watson is confused?? But he nods, even as Ranpo scoops him up so Atsushi can deal with the spider.]

He's like a little roomba when it comes to bugs... but at least he didn't eat it this time.

[Meanwhile Watson is making cute little fox grumbles as Ranpo scritches one of his ears, as if he weren't just being a little menace.]

[Unfortunately, Atsushi has to get up to open a window and drop the spider outside. Tragic.]

I can't imagine they're all that tasty.
